Press Release – Tariff Update April 2025

Navigating Market Changes Together: Why Melco Remains Your Trusted Partner Amid Tariff Uncertainty

Westminster, CO – April 8, 2025
A Message From Melco’s President, Matthias Kondler–As you are no doubt aware, the White House recently announced a series of reciprocal tariffs, with a baseline 10% on all imports and significant increases for certain countries — some reaching as high as 50% or more. While this policy continues to evolve, I want to take a moment to share how we at Melco are responding — and what you can expect moving forward.

Above all, we want you to know: you’re not navigating these changes alone. Melco is committed to walking this road with you, every step of the way.

We understand the concern and unpredictability these changes may bring, especially for small businesses and decorators who rely on stable pricing and clear planning. At Melco, our response is rooted in partnership, not panic. We’re approaching this with clarity and long-term perspective — and we want to be clear: we are not increasing prices at this time. If you’ve been considering new equipment, now may be a strategically beneficial time to invest before broader industry conditions potentially shift. If you’re ready to explore purchase options, our dedicated sales team is here to help you find the right solution to fit your needs and budget.

Built for Long-Term Partnership, Not Short-Term Gain

Melco was founded in Denver in 1972, and we remain the only U.S.-based company that designs and develops both commercial embroidery hardware and software entirely in-house. Our engineering, customer support, and product development teams all operate from our Denver headquarters, giving us deep insight into the needs of our customers and full control over innovation and responsiveness.

As a proud member of the BERNINA International Group, our machines are assembled and tested in a BERNINA-owned factory overseas. While this means that current tariff changes may affect us, our manufacturing process is not outsourced to third parties, which gives us a unique advantage: we maintain full oversight and quality control from design to production.

That level of control allows us to respond with confidence and stability — avoiding the reactive swings that come with outsourced, fragmented supply chains.

You Speak, We Listen

Our product evolution is driven by your input. Whether it’s refining machine capabilities, improving software usability, or enhancing training and support — Melco listens to customer feedback and builds solutions around real-world needs. We’re proud to say that many members of our team have previously owned or operated embroidery businesses themselves, which gives us firsthand perspective into your daily challenges.

Our customers benefit from direct access to our U.S.-based phone support team, a nationwide network of skilled technicians and educators, advanced embroidery and digitizing specialists, and fast, collaborative communication with our sales team for real-time insights and continuous innovation. That’s the kind of support you can expect from a true partner.

We’re In This Together

Over the past few years, we’ve all had to adapt, pivot, and reimagine the way we work. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that relationships matter most — especially when uncertainty strikes. That’s why, if you need help finding a product that fits your budget, or require flexibility with credit, our team is ready to support you every step of the way.

At Melco, our success depends on yours. It’s a simple principle, but one that has guided us for over 50 years — and one that will continue to guide us, no matter how global conditions may shift.

We’ll keep monitoring the situation closely and will share updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, thank you for your trust, your business, and the opportunity to be a part of your journey.

Warm regards,
Matthias Kondler
